This Movers’ Guide to Living in Avondale / Logan Square

If you’re thinking of moving to the neighborhood I must congratulate you on making a great choice. I am a lifelong resident of Logan Square and Avondale so I have to admit I’m a bit partial. From the Logan Square Boulevard to all the shops and ethnic restaurants, it’s really hard for me to imagine a better place to call home. The recent addition of the Bloomingdale Trail or “The 606” as it’s known has helped me rediscover the unique qualities of the area. It so inspired us that we named our company 606 Movers, Inc.

Nordic and Polish roots were the foundation and over the years latino influences have really come to shape the neighborhood we know today. As I see more and more people starting to discover our small corner of Chicago I hope you have the chance to experience and embrace some of my favorites.

The Food

Cafe Con Leche 2714 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60647

They have been around as long as I can remember. In fact all through high school I worked at The Gap just down the street and part of my Sunday routine was stopping by for an egg sandwich…omg and the empanadas so good. This takes me down memory lane.

Buona Terra 2535 N California Ave, Chicago IL 60647

Neighborhood Italian Restaurant.

Miko’s Italian Ice 2236 N Sacramento Ave, Chicago, IL 60647A true sign summer is coming is when Miko’s opens for the season. It’s tucked away and pretty much looks like someone’s apartment from the street but you won’t regret stopping by. They do seasonal flavors so there is always something new to try.

The Places

City Lit Books 2523 N. Kedzie Blvd. Chicago, IL 60647

Great local bookstore

Logan Square Farmers Market At the intersection of North Milwaukee Ave and North Logan Boulevard Opens at 12:00PM on Sundays and gets bigger every year. There is no better way to end the weekend.

Fun Fact……Did you know statue of the eagle perched on the column in the center of Logan Square was designed by same man who did the Lincoln Memorial in DC. His name was Henry Bacon. Now you do 🙂

This is just a very small sample of all Logan Square/ Avondale has to offer. I hope you enjoy and I’ll be sure to add more in the coming weeks, feel free to tell me your favorites so I can share them too.

Thanks!
